Trained in the European Impressionist tradition, he travelled extensively before settling on the island in 1932, becoming captivated by its landscapes, culture, and quality of light. His paintings are characterised by vibrant colour, atmospheric brushwork, and an enduring fascination with Balinese daily life and traditions. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan class=\"\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eMany of Le Mayeur’s most celebrated works feature his wife and muse, the Legong dancer Ni Pollok, whose presence became central to his artistic practice.
