Born in Chiba, Japan, Rokkaku is largely self-taught and developed her distinctive technique through an instinctive, physical approach to painting. Rather than using brushes or preliminary drawings, she applies acrylic paint directly onto the canvas with her bare hands and fingertips, allowing forms and compositions to emerge spontaneously.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHer visual language draws from Japanese kawaii culture and the uninhibited imagination of childhood, often featuring her recognisable large-eyed figures within colourful, dreamlike environments. Rokkaku's practice extends beyond painting into sculpture, ceramics, bronze, glass, and textiles, while her process also incorporates live painting performances.
