Working from photographs taken on his phone, he translates moments from his immediate surroundings into paintings that combine observation with a sense of humour, tenderness and melancholy.

Sheiner’s paintings explore the emotional qualities found within ordinary moments, often revealing feelings of isolation, vulnerability and intimacy beneath seemingly simple scenes. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2008, and his works are held in collections including the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection and X Museum.

(Photographed in November 2022)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0889/4159/2941/files/2-JakeSheiner_LeavingTheUndergroundMuseum.jpg?v=1790848014
