He studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, and his practice centres on figurative painting influenced by his experiences in Los Angeles. His works often depict sun-tanned figures in elaborate clothing and lively social settings, drawing on the atmosphere of Beverly Hills, nightlife and popular culture. Using airbrush alongside painting techniques, he creates softly rendered, dreamlike scenes that combine spontaneity with a strong sense of contemporary urban life.

Haoxian’s work explores themes of consumer culture, social interaction and cultural identity, often bringing together imagery from fashion, travel and mythology. His paintings have been exhibited internationally, including at The Galaxy Museum of Contemporary Art in Chongqing, Tank Shanghai and Times Art Museum in Beijing, as well as VETA by Fer Francés in Madrid. His later work has further engaged with consumerism and fast fashion, using painting to consider ideas of desire, consumption, permanence and emotional attachment.

(Photographed in March 2026)
