Low Puay Hua (Singaporean, b. 1945) graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1965, with a career spanning over four decades. He has traveled across Southeast Asia, the Far East, and Europe, using these journeys as valuable opportunities to accumulate visual experiences and insights that strengthen his artistic practice. Sketching and painting on location allow him to train his ability to respond directly to diverse atmospheric lighting and cultural intricacies.
Low's art is distinguished by his wide-ranging interests and diverse artistic directions. His landscape paintings reinforce his discipline, while his streetscape paintings deepen his understanding of local ethos. His contemporary Chinese ink paintings revitalise centuries-old traditions, and his abstract art explores the potential for artistic innovation.
