He has developed a practice centred on direct observation, capturing back lanes, shophouses and changing city environments with a strong sense of atmosphere and structure.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn 1992, Tiong pursued advanced studies in oil painting at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing under a scholarship from the National Arts Council. Over the years, he has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in exhibitions across Asia.
