André Mendes, Untitled 4, 2015

SGD 7,000.00

Acrylic on canvas
110 x 180 cm (visible), 110.5 x 180.5 x 4 cm (framed)
Condition: Very good

This piece was purchased from TAKSU Gallery where it held an exhibition of the artist’s works.  What drew us to this piece was the energy of the pigments and the movement within the piece given the bold brushwork, materiality of colour and its fluid behaviour. Together, the colour saturation, form and composition of this piece injected a positive energy, conveyed the feeling of optimism and brightened up the dining area of our previous home.

We are very sad to have to let it go as we do not have a hanging spot to do it justice in our new (smaller) home.  This captivating artwork makes for a striking piece to be displayed at the foyer or hallway, staircase, or in communal spaces of a home or office.

André Mendes is a popular Brazilian artist whose works have been shown internationally in galleries, museums, and are in both private and institutional collections.  He continues to be represented by TAKSU Gallery in ongoing exhibits (already more than 10 years), a testimony to his art work continuing to be well-received in the region and appreciating well.  This includes being commissioned by Khazanah and Temasek for three large sculptures and one gargantuan mural for Andaz Singapore.
