Goh Lye Hock (Malaysian, b. 1963) is a dear friend and a highly regarded artist. Together, we participated in the Asian International Art Exhibition across various countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Goh is best known for his iconic mangosteen series, with his works once represented by a prominent gallery in Tanglin Mall, Singapore.

The drawing in my collection is particularly rare, created during the early stages of Goh’s career when he was navigating the challenges of establishing himself as a professional artist. I was drawn to his unique portrayal of the figure and his masterful control of the pastel medium on paper, which reflects his exceptional skill and artistic sensitivity.
