We met Cuong (Vietnamese, b. 1962) at his exhibition in Singapore, held at The Raffles Hotel, and he explained the impetus behind this painting.

It is of a father wishing for his child to excel academically. See the ink pot and the letters which reflect his aspirations for his child. This struck a chord with us - like all Singaporean parents. We also love his modern contemporary style with an Asian edge.
