Markey Robinson (Irish, 1917-1999) was a Northern Irish painter best known for his simplified depictions of rural villages, clowns, still life, and seascapes.

This is one of several paintings we acquired from an art gallery (Nancy Roach Art Gallery) Operating from Tudor Court at Tanglin. We bought two Markeys - loved the reductionist simplicity of his approach.. The thick black lines and quasi-abstract blocks of colour remind us of acclaimed artist, Bernard Buffet’s art.

*Image background has been composited.
The artwork and frame is the actual piece.
