I am a watch dealer, I traded a watch for this piece. I enjoy the bright colours, it is a multi-layered abstract piece by the well-known Singaporean abstract artist, Thang Kiang How.
Thang's technique of blending acrylic and airbrush printing on canvas is his trademark and features prominently in this work. With over 12 solo exhibitions and 100 group exhibitions across several countries, his work has earned recognition and awards internationally. He was the President of Modern Art Society Singapore (1982 – 1993), Vice President of Federation of Art Societies Singapore (1990 – 1996) and sits on the panel in National Arts Council (1984 – 1993).
Thang has been developing his Galaxy series for over 25 years now. He obsesses over space, not just space as in where galaxies are found, but the space between us, the emptiness to be filled.
