Yaghoub Moshfeghi Far (b. 1961) is an Iranian artist. I remember picking up these works early in Moshfeghifar’s career, when he still painted on jute. He showed great potential then and is now a well known Iranian artist.

I love his portrayal of rural Iran. Blue is not a colour commonly associated with the village of Abyaneh, but his stylised blocking of the buildings and contouring of the trees evokes a feeling of otherworldliness and an atmosphere of magic.
