Chng Seok Tin (Singaporean, 1946-2019), a pioneering sculptor, printmaker, and writer, is celebrated for her creativity and resilience. Despite losing most of her vision in 1988 due to illness, she adapted her artistic practice to focus on touch-based art forms, such as sculpture and mixed media. Her disability profoundly shaped her work, addressing themes of transformation, perception, and desperation, while encouraging audiences to rethink sensory boundaries in art.

Educated at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Chng furthered her studies at prestigious institutions, including the University of Leeds, St Martin’s School of Art in London, and the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. These diverse cultural environments enriched her artistic approach, blending Eastern and Western philosophies in her works.
