Godod Sutejo (Indonesian, 1953–2024) was a painter born in Wonogiri, Central Java, who studied at the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI) in Yogyakarta, completing his degree in 1977 and later a doctorate in 1985. From 1975 he was active in the Pasar Seni Jaya Ancol art market in Jakarta, where he became a long-time coordinator. Best known for his tranquil landscapes of skies, seas, and mountains dotted with small human or animal figures, his works conveyed a spiritual calm influenced by Javanese philosophy and nightly rituals of prayer before painting. Over his career he held more than 100 exhibitions across Indonesia and abroad, including shows in Switzerland and Australia. His final solo exhibition Manjing opened in Yogyakarta in August 2024; he passed away later that month at the age of 71.
