Born in Central Java, Haji Widayat (Indonesian, 1919-2002), is one of Indonesia’s modern artists, known for his distinct Indonesian decorative style. Educated at the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI) in 1954, he continues to explore interpretations of Indonesian culture through mysterious compositions, figures derived from mythology or religious literature and traditional arts.
