Yuri Sergeevich Pavlov, a celebrated Soviet and Russian painter, was born on May 6, 1932, in Moscow. A gifted artist from an early age, he honed his talent at the Moscow Secondary Art School, graduating in 1952, and continued his studies at the prestigious Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, where he graduated in 1958. Over the decades, Pavlov built an extraordinary body of work—his landscapes and still lifes filled with quiet beauty and a timeless sense of place. Today, his paintings can be found in esteemed collections such as the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Russian Museum.
I was fortunate enough to meet Yuri Pavlov in Moscow in 1992. It was then that I fell in love with his work—especially his still lifes, which radiate a kind of calm, contemplative elegance. Since then, his paintings have brought warmth and joy into my home, first in Canada, where they became part of the rhythm of daily life, and later as my collection grew with me.
Now living in Singapore, I find myself with more artwork than I can display, and I’m hoping to find a new home for some of Pavlov’s pieces—someone who will appreciate them as deeply as I have. These paintings are more than just art; they carry stories, history, and the quiet presence of a master’s hand. I would be delighted to see them bring light and meaning to someone else’s space, just as they have to mine.
