Kiko Escora

Kiko Escora (born 1970) is a Filipino contemporary artist also known as Manila Animal. His nuanced depictions of form often take the shape of phantasmagorical figures, through which he explores the vulnerability of the body and emotions. His work considers the tensions between death and life, love and lust, delirium and boredom, as well as the possibility and danger of hedonistic release. Movement and stillness, colour, drama and sensuality all contribute to images that give visual form to psychological experience. Escora received the CCP’s 13 Artists Award in 2003. He has taken part in solo and group exhibitions in the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Spain, Thailand, Dubai, Miami, New York and Beijing.
