Ang Ah Tee 洪亚弟 (Singaporean, b.1942) is a respected artist celebrated for his vibrant and expressive watercolour paintings. His artistry is characterised by his bold use of colour and fluid brushwork, capturing the essence of everyday scenes with a lively energy. Often depicting Singaporean landscapes, bustling street scenes, and traditional architecture, he reflects a deep connection to his cultural heritage.
Ang Ah Tee’s oil paintings are comparatively scarce within his overall practice. While he worked in oil early in his career, he shifted towards acrylic from the late 1970s onward, favouring its faster drying time and spontaneity, which became central to his signature style. As a result, most works seen on the market today are acrylics, with oil paintings largely dating to earlier periods such as the 1970s–1980s and appearing less frequently.
Exhibited: Singapore, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Visual Enchantments: Recent Paintings by Ang Ah Tee, 2003.
