Ang Teck Ee (Singaporean, b. 1966) holds a bachelor's degree in architecture and a master's degree in social science. He informally studied art under the mentorship of second-generation artist Leo Hee Tong (Singaporean, b. 1940). An active participant in art competitions, Ang has won numerous accolades, including the UOB Painting of the Year award on four occasions. His works are held in prominent institutional and corporate collections.
Painted around the same time, Ang’s Temporal Ref – Wall Series 1 (Diptych) from Singtel’s collection shares a visual language with the work displayed here. In both pieces, he masterfully employs simple lines and expressive brushwork to bring certain figures to the forefront of his abstract compositions. His restrained use of colour and deliberate negative space not only enhance the depth of his forms but also challenge traditional perceptions of space and structure, creating a striking inverse effect that plays with the boundaries of the canvas.
