Ardi Gunawan (Indonesian, b. 1983) is a transdisciplinary contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, architectural-scale installations, video and stage design. He works at the intersection of art, design and architecture, exploring questions about process, aesthetics, humour and everyday experience through a diverse range of media. Gunawan’s work often embraces physicality and unpredictability, using material and gesture to challenge conventional ideas of artistic beauty and control.

In addition to his artistic practice, Ardi contributes to education as an Assistant Professor in Visual Communication Design, and has previously taught drawing and landscape architecture courses internationally. His work has been exhibited widely in Indonesia and abroad, including at venues such as the National Gallery of Indonesia, Objectifs in Singapore and Gertrude Contemporary in Australia. His art has been featured in numerous publications and reflects both conceptual depth and an engaged, dynamic visual approach.
