Bui Huu Hung (Vietnamese, b. 1957) trained at the Hanoi University of Fine Arts, graduating in the early 1980s, and later became a lecturer at the same institution. He emerged during a period when Vietnamese artists were redefining traditional media in the years following the Đổi Mới reforms.

Best known for his refined use of traditional Vietnamese lacquer, Bùi Hữu Hùng creates meditative compositions featuring lotus flowers, fish, birds, and classical female figures. His work is characterised by rich surface textures, subtle symbolism, and a harmony between classical heritage and contemporary sensibility. His paintings have been widely exhibited in Vietnam and internationally, and are held in both private and institutional collections.
