Chng Keng Beng (Singaporean, b. 1960) is a Singaporean artist and educator renowned for his contemplative cityscapes that blend realism with abstraction. His works often depict urban environments, inviting viewers into a dialogue between the built environment and human experience.
Chng obtained his Diploma in Fine Art from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 1984 and later graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1991. Since 1999, he has been a lecturer at NAFA, contributing significantly to the development of fine arts education in Singapore.
His paintings are characterised by subtle colour palettes and a focus on architectural forms, reflecting a sense of detachment and introspection. Through aerial perspectives and minimalist compositions, Chng explores themes of urban isolation and the human condition within city life.
Chng's work has been recognised with distinction awards in the UOB Painting of the Year competition in 1985 and 2003. He has also participated in notable exhibitions such as the Nokia Singapore Art Exhibition (2001) and the Singapore Art Show (2005).
