    -

Chong Choon Woon (Malaysian, 1972), born in Johor, is a contemporary oil painter, recognised for his use of Chinese ink painting techniques with European Impressionism. He graduated from the Art Department of Nanjing Normal University in 1996, after studying at the Malaysian Institute of Art. Chong has taught at various institutions, including Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, and is currently the Head of the Art & Design Department at Weifang Institute of Technology, China.

Influenced by Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti, Chong’s work explores perception, memory, and nature. His paintings often evoke shifting perspectives, inviting viewers into the fast-paced cities of China through his unique usage of oil painting and Chinese brush techniques. Chong’s art reflects his philosophy that painting is a way of viewing the world, capturing both the essence of the subject and its surrounding environment.

He has exhibited in solo shows like Look and You Will See in 2003, and Urban Perceptions in 2005, with works shown at venues such as the Shanghai Art Museum and Petronas Art Gallery.
