Chuah Siew Teng (Malaysian, b. 1944) is an artist known for his work in batik, oil painting and mixed media. He is the eldest son of pioneering batik artist Chuah Thean Teng, and was exposed to the medium from a young age. He later studied at Ravensbourne College of Art and the City & Guild Art School in England in 1965, further developing a practice rooted in both traditional batik techniques and modernist approaches to Malaysian subject matter.

Siew Teng’s works often present contemporary interpretations of Malaysian culture and everyday life, rendered through expressive forms, layered colour and strong compositional structure. While best known for his batik works, he has also worked extensively in oil painting, describing it as his true forte. Over the decades, he has exhibited internationally and established himself as a significant figure within the development of modern Malaysian batik art.

Acquired from the artist at Yahong Art Gallery, Batu Ferringhi.
