Chun Wee Ping (Singaporean, b. 1972) is an artist whose practice centres on Chinese ink and watercolour, exploring the balance between strength and softness, control and spontaneity. Her works are characterised by confident brushwork combined with fluid washes, allowing ink and colour to interact naturally on paper while maintaining a strong sense of structure and composition. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, urban environments, and fleeting moments, she captures both movement and stillness with sensitivity and restraint.
Trained in traditional ink techniques yet open to contemporary approaches, Chun’s paintings often reflect an intuitive working process where chance plays an important role. She allows the properties of ink and water to guide the final image, embracing imperfections and unpredictability as part of the visual language. Her works have been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions, and she has received awards and commendations that acknowledge her consistent artistic development and contribution to the visual arts.
Through her continued practice, Chun Wee Ping demonstrates a commitment to bridging tradition and modern expression, using ink and watercolour as tools to reflect personal observations and shared experiences. Her works invite viewers to pause and engage with familiar scenes rendered with quiet energy and expressive clarity.
