Dato Kamil Shafie (Malaysian, b. 1960) is a resilient artist whose career embodies triumph over adversity and an unwavering passion for challenging norms. His work is a bold exploration of artistic boundaries, marked by vibrant, expressive strokes that reflect his connection to abstract expressionism. Beyond his artistic pursuits, Kamil played an active role in Malaysian politics during the 1990s, holding various state government positions and excelling in both spheres despite numerous challenges.

This remarkable piece was acquired during Kamil’s exhibition in Magelang, Indonesia. Of the four pieces he created for the exhibition, three were sold to Indonesian collectors, and I was fortunate to secure this one for my collection. I am now ready to pass it on to a buyer who truly values its artistic and cultural significance.
