Dawn Ng (Singaporean, b. 1982) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans painting, photography, film, installation and light-based works. She studied at Georgetown University and the Slade School of Fine Art in London, and has developed a practice centred on themes of time, memory and the ephemeral.

Her works are often characterised by a nuanced use of colour and material, most notably in her ongoing Into Air series, where melting blocks of pigmented ice are used to explore the passage and transformation of time. Working across a wide range of media and scales, Ng creates immersive and visually rich compositions that reflect on transience, perception and the emotional experience of time. She has exhibited widely internationally, with works shown across Asia, Europe and Australia, and is held in major institutional collections including the Singapore Art Museum.

The work is from A Thing of Beauty, a series by Dawn Ng presented by Chan Hampe Galleries as a preview for her presentation at the Art Paris Art Fair in March 2015. The series consists of photographed installations of small, everyday objects, arranged into carefully composed compositions of monochromatic colour, form and texture.

Drawing from symbolism and surrealism, the works bring together objects from different contexts to create unexpected relationships and a new visual language. Through this approach, Ng elevates ordinary, often overlooked items into something more considered, treating them as quiet markers of memory, place and experience while rethinking what can be seen as beautiful.
