Donald Abraham (Malaysian, b.1981) is a contemporary artist known for his vibrant, graffiti-influenced paintings and assemblage works. Largely self-taught, his practice emerged from skateboarding, street culture and underground art communities, later evolving into a distinctive visual language that combines graffiti, doodling and cartoon-like imagery.
Donald’s works are often populated by playful yet grotesque figures, animals, robots and symbolic characters rendered in bold colours and dense compositions. Drawing from urban life, subculture and personal experience, his paintings balance humour with social commentary, reflecting on themes of identity, power, marginalisation and contemporary society. His recurring “Yak Yak” tag — inspired by the sound of birds and symbolising freedom — frequently appears throughout his works as a signature motif.
