Evgen Čopi Gorišek (Slovenian, b.1994) is a contemporary painter born in Koper, Slovenia, and based in Berlin. He initially studied sculpture before turning to painting, bringing his background in graffiti and interest in fashion into his practice. His large-scale figurative paintings combine oil stick, acrylic and spray paint, often depicting celebrities, athletes and figures from popular culture in bold, colour-intensive compositions.

A defining feature of Gorišek’s work is his treatment of the human face, which he replaces with a simple, blurred smiley face. This recurring motif creates a contrast between the carefully rendered bodies, clothing and surroundings and the simplified faces, exploring ideas of identity, appearance and emotional concealment. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in Berlin, London, Milan, Seoul, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.
