Evgeny Boikov (Kyrgyz, b. 1960) is an artist whose works have gained international exposure through shows, auctions, and biennales. He has been a finalist for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize (Hong Kong) in 2012 and 2020. His works have appeared in leading auction houses and been shown at major international exhibitions, reflecting a broad and sustained recognition in the contemporary art world.
Boikov’s art deals heavily with memory, nostalgia, politics and cultural identity. His pieces often draw on historical references — for example one of his notable works is titled “Totalitarian Nostalgia. Politburo Fashion. Fall-Winter 1980” (2018), which incorporates mixed media and suggests reflection on collective history and past ideologies. Through layering, materiality, and evocative titles, his work challenges viewers to consider the aesthetic and psychological weight of history, identity, and societal change.
Acquired from a LASALLE Group Show in 2013.
