Faris Heizer (Singaporean, b. 1998) is a contemporary figurative painter whose practice examines everyday social relationships and the structures of contemporary society, particularly those shaped by capitalism. His paintings often place white-collar workers in imagined situations, using humour, tension, and moments of intimacy to explore the behaviours and pressures of modern working life.
Heizer develops his paintings through layered acrylic inks and gestural brushwork, allowing the initial stains and undertones to inform the figures and compositions. His expressive scenes combine observation with fiction, creating narratives that reflect the complexities, routines, and absurdities of contemporary life. A graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Heizer has exhibited extensively in Singapore and internationally, including presentations in Paris, Beijing, New York, and Chicago.
