Genevieve Chua (Singaporean, b. 1984) is a contemporary Singaporean artist known for her abstract practice that explores the processes and structures of painting. She studied at LASALLE College of the Arts before completing her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art in London. Her work examines ideas of surface, form and visual language, often using concepts such as diagrams, layering and disruption to rethink how painting can function.
Chua’s practice spans painting, printmaking and installation, with recurring themes of nature, systems and the interaction between organic and constructed forms. Her works often balance control and unpredictability, creating compositions that feel both structured and fluid. She has exhibited widely across Asia, Europe and Australia, and was awarded the Young Artist Award by the National Arts Council, Singapore in 2012. She is currently based between London and Singapore.
