Georges Terzian (French, b. 1939) is a painter and musician of Armenian descent, born in Marseille, France. He initially trained in the fine arts and graphic design before emerging as a distinct voice in post-war French painting. Strongly influenced by Cubism and Modernist masters such as Picasso, Braque, and Léger, Terzian developed a unique visual language that blends abstraction with symbolic imagery and architectural structure.

Terzian’s compositions are marked by bold colour, geometric precision, and rich layering of form and texture. He frequently incorporates musical notations, text fragments, and repeated motifs—such as arches, vessels, and windows—into his canvases, creating a rhythmic interplay between sound and image. This fusion of visual and musical elements is central to his practice, revealing a deep sensitivity to harmony and movement.

His paintings often feel like lyrical collages, inviting reflection through their carefully balanced tension between clarity and complexity. While rooted in 20th-century European art traditions, Terzian’s work resonates with timelessness, offering meditative encounters with space, memory, and sensation.
