Gusti Agung Mangu Putra (Indonesian, b.1963) is a Balinese contemporary artist born in Sangeh, Bali. He studied Visual Communication Design at the Institut Seni Indonesia in Yogyakarta, graduating in 1990, and worked as a graphic designer before turning to painting full-time in 1998. His practice moves between abstraction, figuration and hyperrealism, with a strong sensitivity to composition, visual form and the relationship between nature and human intervention.

Mangu Putra frequently draws on natural subjects including mountains, forests, fish and wilderness, as well as historical imagery and scenes of everyday life. His paintings explore the tension between the natural world and the effects of civilisation, often transforming observed subjects into highly composed, sometimes idealised or surreal images. His work has been exhibited extensively in Indonesia and internationally, including in Singapore, China, South Korea, Australia and the United Kingdom.
