    Hatta Hambali (Indonesian, b.1949) is a contemporary painter best known for his vibrant depictions of Balinese dancers, village life, market scenes, and floral still lifes. Born in Singkawang, West Kalimantan, he developed a distinctive figurative style characterised by expressive brushwork, rich colour, and decorative compositions that celebrate the beauty and cultural traditions of Indonesia. Working across oil, acrylic, pastel, and mixed media, his paintings combine strong draughtsmanship with an emphasis on movement, atmosphere, and everyday life.

    Over a career spanning several decades, Hambali has remained committed to portraying Indonesian people and landscapes with warmth and vitality. His works have been exhibited widely through galleries and auctions in Indonesia, and are held in numerous private collections, earning him recognition as a respected figure in Indonesian contemporary painting.
