Heri Kris (Indonesian, b. 1967) is a contemporary painter recognised for his bold, neo-expressionistic works. He studied fine art at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, graduating in 1986, and soon emerged as a distinctive voice in the Indonesian art scene. His vibrant and energetically painted canvases often feature vivid colour relationships and dynamic compositions, showing influences from expressive and outsider art traditions while maintaining a strong personal visual language. 

Throughout his career Heri Kris has participated in solo and group exhibitions both in Indonesia and abroad, including shows in Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, reflecting an international engagement with contemporary art audiences.  Although his works are primarily focused on visual impact rather than political messaging, his approach celebrates individual freedom and personal expression. In addition to painting on canvas, he continues to experiment with sculpture, expanding his artistic practice into new forms and media.
