Iida Kiriko (Japanese, b. 1970) is a contemporary Japanese painter known for her dreamlike works inspired by nature and memory. She graduated from the Hokkaido Institute of Design in 1991, and her practice has since developed around a deeply personal visual language shaped by the atmosphere of her northern homeland, particularly its long winters and sense of stillness.
Iida’s paintings are characterised by soft light, delicate lines and a gentle, almost surreal mood. Her works often feature animals, flowers and solitary figures, conveying a sense of innocence, introspection and emotional warmth. Influenced by the idea that all things possess a spirit, her compositions balance realism with fantasy, creating quiet, contemplative worlds that invite personal reflection. She has exhibited widely in Japan and internationally, including presentations in Tokyo, Taipei and major contemporary art fairs.
Acquired from Gallery IDF at Art Basel Hong Kong in March 2024.
