This piece is particularly nostalgic to me as I grew up with Space Invaders. When chanced upon this artwork, it immediately brings up happy memories of my childhood. Hence, the reason of my purchase. I hope the buyer/collector will appreciate it as much as I do.

Invader (French, b. 1969) is a Paris-based urban artist best known for his ceramic tile mosaics inspired by the 1978 arcade game Space Invaders. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts, Invader began his project in the late 1990s, discreetly installing pixelated characters on public buildings in Paris. His early interest in street culture, video games, and hacking informs his artistic identity, which he keeps anonymous and separate from the traditional art world.

His works are composed of small, square tiles arranged to resemble 8-bit characters, animals, or icons, often referencing retro video game aesthetics and digital pop culture. The pieces are strategically "invaded" into public spaces around the globe, from the walls of Tokyo to the Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles. By using durable, physical materials to express digital language, Invader blurs the line between the virtual and real, challenging the temporality of street art. Each piece is carefully catalogued by the artist, contributing to an ongoing series he terms his "invasions."

Though rooted in street art, Invader’s work has garnered international acclaim and has been exhibited in galleries and institutions worldwide. Despite his anonymity, he has maintained a distinct visual and conceptual signature, championing accessibility, play, and subversion in contemporary art. His installations invite passers-by to reconsider their surroundings, while his catalogue, maps, and mobile app (FlashInvaders) gamify art-viewing itself. Invader continues to question authorship, space, and permanence through a practice that is both light-hearted and deeply reflective of our media-saturated era.
