Jake Clark (Australian, b.1985) is a Melbourne-based ceramic artist whose practice combines sculpture, painting and an interest in popular iconography. Self-taught as an artist and ceramicist, Clark initially developed an interest in drawing and graffiti before turning to ceramics, inspired in part by his grandparents’ collection of pots and sculptures and the work of Keith Haring. His background in horticulture also informs his practice, alongside imagery drawn from everyday surroundings such as supermarkets, restaurants, street signs, advertisements and packaging.

Clark’s works transform familiar visual references into colourful ceramic sculptures, bringing together elements of consumer culture, street art and functional objects. His interest in iconography and everyday imagery gives his work a playful contemporary character, while his use of clay allows him to translate these references into three-dimensional forms. His work has been exhibited internationally, including with WOAW Gallery, where he participated in Romancing Relevance in Hong Kong in 2022.
