Jean-Paul Decroix (Belgian, b. 1948) was the assistant of Jean-Luc Godard, the French Swiss film director and worked for French film magazine, Les Cahiers du Cinema. Decroix went on to practise law for thirty years but has always painted during his spare time.
Decroix remembers the loneliness as a child when he was afraid of the dark and at the same time his parents were going through a divorce. Since then, he has cherished light and brightness. His studio is located in front of the Eiffel Tower where he can feel very connected to the sky and the clouds. He translates his observation of the change of colours in the sky to his art piece. In his painting, Decroix creates a sentimental feeling that would reach people. He developed a personal connection by expressing his feelings on humans, animals and plants as a representation of daily life.
