Ji Xin (Chinese, b. 1988) is a contemporary Chinese painter known for his refined figurative works that merge classical influences with a contemporary sensibility. He studied oil painting at the China Academy of Art, where he completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and later participated in an exchange programme in Paris. He is currently pursuing doctoral research at the same institution.
Ji’s paintings draw from both Eastern and Western traditions, combining elements of Song dynasty aesthetics with references to Renaissance art. His works often feature serene, stylised figures placed in quiet, suspended environments, creating a sense of timelessness and emotional detachment. Through this synthesis, he explores themes of perception, identity and the relationship between past and present, producing compositions that feel both classical and distinctly contemporary.
