Jun Makita (Japanese, b. 1980) is a contemporary artist born in Niigata and raised in Osaka, Japan. He is largely self-taught and gained early recognition through Takashi Murakami's GEISAI art fairs, winning multiple awards in the early 2000s. His work has since been exhibited across Japan and internationally, including recent solo shows in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
His artworks blend traditional Japanese motifs with modern pop culture, featuring cute characters and soft colour palettes. His style is influenced by manga, anime, and otaku culture, creating a unique fusion of East meets West.
