Yoshimi Kimiko (Japan, b. 1968) is an artist specialising in sumi painting. She began painting in childhood and has always dreamed of being in the creative industry. Although she initially worked as a designer, she eventually found her true calling in the expressive world of sumi.
Kimiko’s work is known for its boldness and depth, reflecting her wide-ranging abilities as an artist. She focuses on the beauty of transition, the way sumi ink and water touches when on Japanese rice paper, bringing her intense compositions to life. Her mastery of tonal balance and rhythm, along with the nuanced effects of her brushwork, results in powerful pieces that work that catches the eye.
Her artwork has been exhibited in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia. Provenance includes the Artist’s Collection, Kato Art Duo Gallery in Singapore, and private collection in Asia.
