Laurent Proux (French, b.1980) is a contemporary painter and draughtsman whose practice examines industrial environments, workplaces, machinery, and the human body. Born in Versailles and based in Paris, Proux creates paintings that occupy a space between figuration and abstraction, using artificial colour, distorted perspectives, fragmented forms, and overlapping planes to challenge the conventional representation of space.

Proux’s compositions often transform workplaces and industrial settings into psychologically charged environments, where geometric structures and human forms appear fragmented or intertwined. His treatment of the body as a kind of “body-machine” reflects his interest in labour, social relations, and the relationship between people and the systems they inhabit. His works are held in collections including the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP), FRAC collections, and the Paris Municipal Collection, and have been exhibited internationally at institutions including the Shanghai Art Museum and Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon.
