Liu Hsin-Ying (Taiwanese, b.1991) is a contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, video, and performance. Working intuitively across a range of media, she creates vibrant, atmospheric compositions that draw from personal experience, emotion, memory, and observations of the natural world. Her paintings are characterised by fluid forms, energetic mark-making, and layered colour, often blurring the boundaries between landscape, abstraction, and figuration.
Trained at the Art Students League of New York and the Department of Fine Art at Taipei National University of the Arts, Liu has developed a distinctive visual language that prioritises sensation and psychological experience over direct representation. Recurring motifs of trees, mountains, water, sky, and the human body emerge through expressive fields of colour and gesture, creating works that evoke states of transformation, growth, and emotional reflection. Based in Kuala Lumpur, she has exhibited internationally and is recognised as an emerging voice in contemporary Asian painting.
