M.T. Hla (Burmese, 1874 - 1946) was a pioneering artist from Mandalay, Myanmar (then Burma), known for introducing Western painting techniques into Burmese art. Originally trained in traditional Burmese styles under the royal court, M.T. Hla transitioned to realism after exposure to British colonial influence, developing a unique style of local themes with European methods.

He specialised in watercolour and oil painting, creating portraits, landscapes, and Buddhist scenes with remarkable detail and depth. M.T Hla became one of the most influential figures in early modern Myanmar art, inspiring generations of artists to experiment with blending traditional subjects and Western perspectives. His legacy marks a significant turning point in the history of Southeast Asian painting.
