Marco Lodola (Italian, b. 1955) is an acclaimed Italian contemporary artist known for his vibrant, illuminated sculptures and paintings that merge pop culture, music, and modern art with a playful yet sophisticated aesthetic. Born in 1955 in Dorno, Italy, Lodola studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence and Milan, where he cultivated a passion for the avant-garde movements of the 20th century, including Futurism and Pop Art. His education provided him with a strong foundation in traditional fine arts, but his desire to innovate led him to develop a distinct style centred on colour, light, and popular iconography.

Lodola’s work is heavily influenced by the energy and dynamism of music, film, and fashion, often depicting figures of dancers, musicians, and iconic cultural symbols. He masterfully incorporates materials like plexiglass, neon lights, and enamel, creating luminous sculptures that radiate vibrancy and joy. His compositions, characterised by bold outlines, bright primary colours, and simplified forms, evoke a sense of movement and celebration, drawing parallels with the Futurist fascination with speed and light as well as the playful irony of Pop Art.

An artist with a deep connection to contemporary culture, Lodola’s collaborations span various creative industries. He has designed installations for major music festivals, theatrical productions, and public art events, bringing art into the everyday world with accessible, celebratory aesthetics. His work also appears in commercial partnerships and fashion collaborations, further blurring the boundaries between fine art and popular media.

Internationally recognised, Lodola’s works have been exhibited across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, earning him acclaim for his ability to infuse energy, nostalgia, and contemporary commentary into art that transcends traditional mediums. His legacy as a leading figure in neo-Futurism and a master of light-based art continues to inspire audiences with its dynamic fusion of past and present, artistry and entertainment.
