Mario Miguel Mollari (Argentine, 1930-2010) was a painter and muralist. He was known for his bold, expressionist style and Latin America sentiment. As a self-taught artist, Mollari drew inspiration from Mexican muralists and European modernists from his travels and curiosity. His work often centred around the struggles and dignity of native peoples, their stoic forms portrayed in striking, complimentary, block-like colours.

In the 1950s, Mollari co-founded the influential Grupo Espartaco with Ricardo Carpani and Juan Manuel Sanchez, a collective committed to social themes and regional identity. They created a national style that truly reflected the harsh realities and hardships faced by the country’s working class. They labeled the style the New Figuration.

Mollari’s works are featured in many important private collections and are displayed to the public in museums in Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Santa Fe, Tres Arroyos, the Latin American Institute of Austria, and more.
