Ngakan Nyoman Weda (Indonesian, b. unknown) is a Balinese artist best known for transforming the traditional folding fan into a contemporary art form. Trained at the State Arts High School in Denpasar, he began his career designing textile motifs before turning to painting on fans in the late 1990s. His works combine Balinese cultural imagery with motifs inspired by his earlier experience working for Japanese clients, often depicting scenes of village life, local flora, and symbolic animals such as the Bali starling.
Weda established a workshop in Bali to produce both the wooden fan structures and painted surfaces, allowing him to scale up production while maintaining artistic quality. His fans have been recognised in national craft fairs and collected both locally and abroad, positioning him as a distinctive voice in contemporary Balinese art
