Peh Eng Seng (Singaporean, b. 1940) is a second-generation artist, best known for his realistic, reminiscent watercolour paintings. As a graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1963, Peh initially worked in commercial art before becoming a full-time painter in 1983. His works often portray Singapore’s fast-changing landscapes, from kampongs and bustling markets to historic shophouses, reflecting the city’s progressive identity. Peh is known for his expressive brushwork and subtle palettes, frequently painting en plein air, seizing fleeting moments of light and daily life.

Peh has held solo exhibitions at venues such as the Hyatt Hotel in 1987, and the Oriental Hotel in 1990, and participated in major local events like the Singapore Festival of Arts. His paintings have earned awards including the Australian Art Award in 1985 and IBM Art Award in 1986, and is part of the National Art Gallery in Singapore and Singtel’s art collection. Peh is a senior member of the Singapore Watercolour Society, and he continues to be a vital figure in preserving Singapore’s visual heritage through his art.
